Expect to laugh, cry and smile throughout this masterpiece

John Green’s “The Fault in Our Stars” holds the amount of heartbreaks but also has a lot of
happiness mixed in. You’ll cry, but you’ll also laugh at the humor and love that’s found in the novel.

  3. dnaindia.com

The novel goes through the usual timeline- boy meets girl, boy falls for girl, and then the long
inevitable journey in which girl falls for boy. But what distinguishes it from the rest of the pack is
that Green doesn’t just tell you the story, he makes you believe it. This is his first book in which he
writes from a girl’s perspective and Hazel isn’t just your ordinary girl, she’s smart, contemplative and
fierce. Green tends to also give subtle hints throughout his novels on the inevitable outcome. For
instance in ‘The Fault in Our Stars’ as with his earlier best seller ‘Looking For Alaska’, the chapters
become smaller towards the end of the novel, indicating that point in the novel where you know
that something is definitely about to change.

The Fault in Our Stars’ is full of wonderful quotes
    – The writing style and narration are still quirky and keep you hooked from beginning to end, but
‘The Fault in Our Stars’ deals with some hard hitting facts and life lessons that its young readers
may have been sheltered from before
    – It is great for both teenagers and adults in need of something not too complex, but it is also
brilliant at evoking emotions across both age ranges too.

    – Not exactly a boyish book. But definitely WORTH A READ.
    – Some dialogues are too hard to forget. Very well written. Good job John Green.
“The thing about pain, It demands to be felt “.

    – A beautiful scar that we’ll love
    – This is by far the best book I’ve ever read. The way the author integrated himself (as Peter
Van Houten) into the story through another book (Imperial Affliction) was a master-stroke. It allowed
him to express his deep lying thoughts which if put up as a separate book would have got him labelled as
‘crazy’. Half away through the book, I knew the story would end similar to imperial affliction (the climax
of which was revealed earlier). But I was totally taken aback by the way he finished the book. I’d read
the last two pages over and over. The way Augustus wrote an eulogy to Hazel Grace (note: Hazel Grace
always insisted everyone to call her using her full name but Augustus kept on calling her using the first
name alone) without wanting to actually write one was “grand” (Augustus Style).
A quote from the book. ” Almost everyone is obsessed with leaving a mark upon the world. The marks
humans leave are too often scars.”
This book too leaves a scar in the readers. But a beautiful scar that we’ll love.

I know i am sounding like Hazel , but that’s what i feel.

    @Meera for suggesting this.
Its a beautiful book with real lovely characters.
And yes its not a Cancer story, its a story about love , courage and Hope.
Gus is a hero and hazel a darling.
The story of a girl fighting cancer meets a Guy who is out of cancer. The life they have, the moments
    they share.
The small trip to Amsterdam to meet Peter.

Me while reading:Hazel’s days are numbered thanks to her crap lungs. She was able to buy a few
years more, thanks to a miracle, but she isn’t fooling herself. But when a gorgeous plot twist named
Augustus Waters suddenly appears at Cancer Kid Support Group, Hazel’s story is about to be
completely rewritten. I don’t think I’ve ever cried so much, laughed so much, just over all enjoyed a
book as much as I have while reading The Fault in Our Stars. Everything that goes on is serious,
heartbreaking and eye opening but John Green does an amazing job at, literally, making you laugh
out loud. Even when you’re suffering.

Book is different, fast-reads, favourites, funny, love-stories, must-reads, sad
Holy holy holy I waited so long for this novel, so long. I wish so bad I could give it more than 5 stars. John
Green is absolutely amazing, amazing, amazing. The Fault in Our Stars had me laughing and crying, then
laughing more and crying more. I will reread this over and over again, just like the rest of his novels. Oh
wow, was it ever worth the wait. Thank you, John Green, for being so damn spectacular.

There are so many things I want to say about this book but I’m so afraid I might not get them all right.
John Green, you have broken my heart into tiny little pieces.
This book made my heart ache and my eyes burn with tears.
There was just so much emotion in the pages of this book that it was so hard not to feel them.
    Hazel was an inspiration.
The Fault in Our Stars was amazing.
Anyhow, I totally love this book.
    I highly recommend it.
No graphic scenes here so in my opinion it’s totally safe for the teenage kids to read. 🙂

Amazing!!!!!!!I have no words to describe how great this book is, it is by far the best YA novel I have
read so far. It’s chief characters Hazel and Gus and of course Issac are so well crafted and relatable that
you cannot put it down after you have started reading it. It is by far the best novel by John Green whose
previous work includes Looking For Alaska(which was my fav novel until this) and others like Paper
Towns, An Abundance Of Kathrines etc.
Read it,I assure you, you will never regret it and will always be with you forever because you will keep
    on re-reading it.
John Green you are the best!!!…

John Green’s excellency on full display. What can I say, John Green has played his magic fantastically in
The Fault In Our Stars. I was hooked from the first chapter. The guy knows perfectly fine how to capture
our feelings and squeeze out the laughs and the tears.
I absolutely fell in love with the way he depicts the character of Augustus Waters. I can’t even get
jealous of Hazel ’cause even her character is so wonderfully pictured.
Coming down to the real world…cancer. This book made me cry and now I feel it in my bones HOW the
families and friends of cancer patients deal with life. This is harsh reality pictured in the lives of two
teenagers who had only JUST begun to live their life.
Absolutely wonderful. I’m awaiting this movie that releases on June 6th.
NOTE : I STRONGLY SUGGEST PEOPLE TO READ THE BOOK FIRST AND THEN WATCH THE MOVIE.
Understand your character. Look into the words. Cry. Laugh. Sit by the window. Stay up late at night.
Above all, DON’T BE AFRAID TO FEEL.

The fault in Our Stars by John Green is an amazing book. I was little curious about it when I noticed that
this book had topped best selling charts of the New York Times. I knew it was meant for young readers
which I am not really at fifty two; however, I was eager to know about the general taste of English
language readers, and specifically of the teenagers of America.
Being myself a writer from India, I was looking for the elements that had made the book a hit. I had an
impression that perhaps I won`t be able to empathize with the teen American sentiments. Surprisingly I
found a story that revolved around two young cancer survivors (a misnomer, because both will
    eventually succumb from their respective cancers), with an eternal emotions of love and yearning;
though both knew that they had only few months left. It`s heartrending, poignant with glimpses of
quirky humorous moments like throwing eggs on the car of a snooty girlfriend by her dumped blind
lover. I enjoyed the book, for its simple story, unpretentious, warm and spontaneous.

You will want to finish it in a day
It’s such a simple book and yet so gripping. This book brilliantly captures the truthfulness of suffering
and yet manages to constantly make you laugh and smile. Of course at some points you would also want
to hate the universe for the games its playing.
Couple of my favorite quotes (Mind you there are so many)
    Hazel’s father says
‘Sometimes it seems the universe wants to be noticed.’…That’s what I believe. I believe the universe
wants to be noticed. I think the universe is improbably biased toward consciousness, that it rewards
intelligence in part because the universe enjoys its elegance being observed. And who am I, living in the
middle of history, to tell the universe that it–or my observation of it–is temporary?”
    Later Hazel says
I thought of my dad telling me that the universe wants to be noticed. But what we want is to be noticed
by the universe, to have the universe give a shit what happens to us–not the collective idea of sentient
life but each of us, as individuals.

Infinite emotions within finite pages.. To be honest, I was a bit hesitant to order this book
considering its genre – Young adult literature..but I just couldn’t ignore the “buy” button after I read
it was John’s best work until now…. I am extremely glad I bought this masterpiece…
It’s difficult to find a book which entertains and preaches you at the same time..(In a non-preachy
way..) …but this one went way beyond my expectations…it made me changed the way I looked at
life…It made me realize that life is too short to indulge in its trivialities…It made me laugh and cry at
the same time… it made me envy Hazel and Augustus that they knew more about life than I do…
This is a book meant to be read over and over again…
This will be my “An Imperial Affliction”…
